VOLUME ONE - CHAPTER THREE Gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope for the grace that is brought unto you, the perfection of faith. The blessing of all that believe, the performance of those things told from God. As obedient children, and not fashioned according to the former lusts, submit yourselves to the will of God. Faith is the confidence of things hoped for, and the reproof of works not seen. Trust in the living God, the Saviour of all men, and hold fast the profession of faith without wavering, for he is faithful. And having hope toward God, stand and be judged for the hope of the promises made of God. You have access by faith into the grace wherein you stand, rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And hope makes not ashamed, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the word of God, which is given unto us. The creation is delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of children of God. For we are saved by hope, but hope that is seen is not hope. For what a man sees, why does he yet hope for it? For all scripture written before, was written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures have hope. Now, the God of hope fills us with all joy and peace in believing, that we abound in hope, through the power of the word of God. And now abides faith, hope, charity, that as you are partakers of the sufferings, so also of the consolation. Seeing then that we have such hope, we speak openly. For the hope of righteousness by faith, the eyes of understanding being enlightened, is that you know the riches of the glory of his inheritance. The exceeding greatness of his power to all, who believes, according to the working of his mighty power. One body, and one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in us all. For the hope laid up for us, whereof we heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel, is come unto us. And it brings forth fruit, the grace of God in truth, if we continue in the faith grounded and settled, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel. Which are the riches of the glory of this mystery, the perfect word of God in you, the hope of glory. Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labor of love, and patience of hope in the perfect word, in the sight of God our Father; know brethren beloved, your election of God is sure. The hope of eternal life, God, that cannot lie, redeems us from all iniquity, and purifies unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. That being justified by his grace, we are made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. As a child of God over your own house, hold fast the confidence, and the rejoicing of the hope firm. It is impossible for God to lie, lay hold upon the hope set before us, a better hope, by which we draw nigh unto God. Who according to his abundant mercy has begotten us again unto a lively hope, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fades not away, reserved for you, kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed.
