Doctrine of Peace

VOLUME ONE - CHAPTER 10

If you this day examine the good deed done unto this man, by what means he is made whole, be it known unto you all, that by faith this man stands here before you whole. For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: therefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer. A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house: for unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required. And to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace upon me is not in vain: but after the similitude of Melchisedec another priest is risen, made not after the law of a carnal commandment but after the power of an endless life. Inasmuch as he who build the house, has more honor than the house.

And no man takes this honor unto himself, but he that is called of God. And I receive from God the Father honor and glory being appointed over the business, that you have lack of nothing, of distributing to the necessity of saints. For our heavenly Father knows what we have need of, before we ask him. And God shall supply all our needs according to his riches in glory and restore all to this generation.

But those things, which God before had showed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ, (the word of God), should suffer, he has so fulfilled. They were stoned, they were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; (of whom the world was not worthy) they wandered in deserts, and mountains, and dens and caves of the earth. For God has tempered the body together, and whether we are afflicted for our consolation and salvation, or whether we are comforted for our consolation and salvation, Christ in you is the hope of glory.

Wherefore take this meat for this is for your health: raised up to give salvation through the tender mercy of our God, guiding our feet into the way of peace. This day is salvation come to this house, and to you is the word of this salvation sent.

Behold, now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation. To us, who are of this day, God appointed to obtain salvation that we live together with him, chosen to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth.

Neglect not so great a salvation and receive the end of faith, the salvation of souls: the prophets prophesied of this grace unto you. That God would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life. And deliver us who through fear of death are all our lifetime subject to bondage. But we see Jesus, (faith of God), who was made a little lower than the angels, (messengers of God) for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. My brethren have not the faith with respect of persons.

Our heavenly Father dwells not in temples made with hands, as says the prophet, Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: What house will you build me? Says the LORD: Or what is the place of my rest? To Day if you will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. Enter into his rest and cease from works, as God from his. Again, he limited a certain day, saying in David, (mercy of God), To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day, if you will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. For if Jesus, (faith), had given us rest, then would he afterward have spoken of another day. And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

We are the heirs, come, seize the inheritance, it is ours. For the inheritance is not of the law, but of promise: for God gave to Abraham by promise. Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession.

For God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by faith. Whereunto he now calls us, a chosen generation, that we show forth, being called out of darkness into his marvelous light. That we know the exceeding greatness, and working of his mighty power in the word of God, now raised from the dead and set in the heavenly, far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named.

By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place, which he should afterward receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fades not away, reserved in the heavenly for you. Therefore rise and stand upon your feet, and be a witness both of these things you now see, and of those, which will appear unto you. Open your eyes, turn from darkness to light, the power of Satan unto God, and receive forgiveness and inheritance, sanctified by faith.

Give thanks unto the Father, who works all things after the counsel of his will, we are made so much better than the angels, and by inheritance have obtained a more excellent name than they. That we no longer live the rest of time in the flesh, (carnally minded), but to the will of God, the God of all grace has called us unto his eternal glory by word of faith.

That whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. This is life eternal that we know the only true God, our heavenly Father, having faith in his word, which he sent. And not being vain in our imagination, our foolish heart darkened that sin reign unto death, but that grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by faith. For the wages of sin, death, but the gift of God is eternal life through faith. Now we know we have a building of God, house not made with hands, eternal, the heavenly.

Lay hold on eternal life, whereunto you art called, having professed a good profession before many witnesses. Laying up in store a good foundation, now also obtain the salvation and hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began. And has now manifested his word that being justified by his grace, we are made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that we should receive him for ever. Labor not for the meat that perishes, and judge not yourselves unworthy of everlasting life. For he that sows to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption, but he that sows to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. Our heavenly Father now call us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin, the law.
